Windows 10: new windows 11 machine - added old win 8.1 drive as slave, now have lost all networking...

hi guys,got a brand new Windows 11 machine with a smaller SSD.My old Win 8.1 has a nice 2TB hdd.Can I swap the smaller SSD for the 2TB and upgrade the 2TB to Windows 11, or is that a no chance?Otherwise how can I add this drive as a slave and still retain access to all the network links on the original 8.1 machines drive?Thanks guys, must appreciated.

Cant boot old drive after adding new drive

I have an HP EliteDesk 800 with a 500G drive on SATA-0. I added a 1TB drive on SATA-1. The 1TB drive came from a Window 8 machine where it was the primary drive. After the new drive was added the machine insists on booting the new 1TB drive. I can boot the old 500G drive using the boot menu but I cannot make it the default (not in the boot order list). I formatted the new drive but it still tries to boot (and now fails). What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

I am an admin on both machines

I have spent a whole day trying everything the net says !!

I can see both my computer from each another one on the network but I get that error when I try to access it.

I can see and access the both computers on the network just fine

- Network discovery is on in both PCs

- File and printer sharing is on in both PCs

- 128 bit encrytion in both PCs

- Password protection off in both PCs

done all this all set to auto

Method 1: Start the Network related services.

1. Press Windows and R key together on your Keyboard.
   
2. Type Services.msc and it enter.
   
3. Search for the following services.
   

• Function Discovery Provider Host (FDPHost)
  
• Function Discovery Resource Publication (FDResPub)
  
• Network Connections (NetMan)
  
• UPnP Device Host (UPnPHost)
  
• Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRPSvc)
  
• Peer Networking Grouping (P2PSvc)
  
• Peer Networking Identity Manager (P2PIMSvc)

Removing Win 10 OS from slave HDD

By taking sometime giving yourself permission to deletes files as suggested below. Try create a partition or use another drive to place the info you want to keep. Then format the drive and put your info back.
