Windows 10: How to show quick access items as a list and not details?

I am trying to find a way to list the items in quick access without details but unlike the rest of File Explorer there seems to be no way to change the view for quick access. Can anyone help?

Recent items not showing in quick access or start list


Hi there,

I've only just upgraded to windows 10, so still getting to grips. I have the recent items option enabled in both the quick access panel and jump lists, but they're appearing in neither. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Arranging items in Quick Access

Over the weekend, catalogued some illustrations on my Mac, which is still running OS Big Sur and not OS Sonoma*,
And found it still easier to do this on my Windows 11 PC, due to the limited choices Mac's Finder offers in displaying directories.

In Windows 11, can still view files in a detailed list --and see a preview of graphics file IF I choose to do so.

On the Mac, my choices are view by detailed list, view by column, or view by icon, and it's hard to sort items in Icon view.

So will add three things to the Suggested Features box for Windows 11:

1. The ability to sort folders pinned as Quick Items in Home by name, type, or other characteristic; instead of automatically dumping the latest pinned addition to Quick Items at the bottom of the list.
   
2. Ability to either customize the Quick Access Toolbar in Windows Explorer, or at least adding the "Show Preview" button to that list.
   
3. Having "Date Modified" automatically shown in Details instead of "Date."
   

*Not switching yet, due to numerous reported security issues with Sonoma.

OK, so I had misunderstood - I was expecting an actual recent items item on the start menu like we used to have in windows 7 that shows all recent items rather than lists for individual programmes. I guess this is what you get in the in the quick access option, but that means you have to open a file explorer window, then quick access to get to it, whereas previously you could click on start and hover over recent items for a complete list. Also I don't get jump lists for all the programmes I keep on the taskbar, only some of them. It just seems like windows 10 makes a lot of things a click or two further away than it used to be and therefore less easy to use - put me right if I'm mistaken.
