  2. Bluetooth option works, or USB cord

Windows 10 supports Bluetooth send/receive file transfer. I have used this successfully to/from Android phone & Windows 10 PC. Although bluetooth is much slower than wireless ES File Explorer transfers. I can also still use the trusty USB cord for successful file transfers. Both methods, Bluetooth & USB, are not as easy to use as the lost ability of ES File Explorer's LAN networking transfer, as well as using it's file/folder exploring capability while doing so.

BLUETOOTH connection problem (phone to PC only)

Have been unable for several months now to send photos, or any file, from Android Phone (MiA1, Android 9) to PC (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit 1809 running on LENOVO V33015IKB). Latest updates installed to both Android and Windows. Your Smartphone on PC: version 1.19032.731.0, Your Phone Companion on Android: version 3.4.5

Already tried switching "Battery optimization exception" in YPC to ON. Also tried additionally connecting phone to PC as a tethered hotspot. Both times no improvement.

    What works:
    - sending any file from PC to phone via bluetooth
    - using "Continue on PC" to send link from phone via bluetooth to browser on PC

    What doesn't work:
    - Share photo (or any file) from phone to PC via bluetooth symbol
    - Using Your Smartphone to load photos from phone

Expected behavior: the latter two should both work.

Went through the troubleshooting page https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/...roubleshooting and applied the steps therein:

In Windows -> System, system accounts are shown OK. In Shared Usage relevant settings are both switched ON.

In Windows settings, Your Smartphone "Allow to run as background app" ON.

Smartphone is not in airplane mode.

Logged into Microsoft account on both PC and phone.

"Do not disturb" on phone is OFF.

EDIT: Sorry forgot to mention, in phone cleared cache and cleared storage for Your Phone Companion

Disconnecting phone via accounts.microsoft.com/devices does not help.

Disconnecting phone via Windows Settings does not help.

Restarting Windows PC and reconnecting phone does not help.

Same problem regardless of whether PC is online via WiFi or via mobile Internet (USB stick).

And what is worse, now Your Smartphone no longer even shows the photos from the time when it used to work (though sending via "Send As" from PC to phone still works). Please help!

Eh ... this is odd ... and messy. After restarting PC a couple of times and this time hooking it up to WiFi, Your Smartphone now does update to the most recently taken 25 photos from phone ... but at the end also tells me "connection not possible" *Rolleyes

And all attempts to share a file (photo) from phone to PC via tapping on bluetooth icon still fail.

    Cannot use bluetooth device

1 Pairing is done in Settings, Devices
1.1 You click on Add Bluetooth or other device
    1.2 You choose Bluetooth
1.3 If there is a pairing button on the bluetooth device itself then you press that now. You need to check the instructions for your bluetooth device to see how to do this - several automatically go into pairing mode when they switch on, others have a button that needs to be pressed for, say, 5 seconds.
1.4 The computer detects all available bluetooth devices and you select yours from the list. If yours is not on the list then Windows could not detect it.
1.5 It connects - pairing includes connecting
1.6 The computer sounds a buzz in the earpiece then displays Your device is ready to go and you click on Done
1.7 The device is shown in the devices list below the subheading Audio and it shows it as connected
1.8 The device should also appear in Control panel, Sounds, Playback tab
1.9 The device should also appear in Control panel, Devices & printers
1.10 {I just paired some bluetooth earphones as I typed so I could make sure these notes were correct} You use a music player and the sound comes out of the bluetooth earphones

2 If this is not happening for you then go to Contol panel, Devices & printers
2.1 Right-click on the device & select Remove device
2.2 You can now try pairing from scratch again
2.3 Several other users have reported that only removing the device with Bluetooth command line tools - BluetoothInstaller allowed them to re-pair again [see xzion's guidance below]
2.4 Yet others reported that only the KeithM code or Bungee's guidance worked for them [see below]

3 Where is this all going wrong for you?
[I assume we are definitely talking about bluetooth headphones/earphones. I understand that WiFi ones do also exist.]

Several people registered in TenForums just to be able to thanks xzion, KeithM & Bungee. Apparently, what worked for some people did not work for others so each solution seems worth trying.
