    Hey,

    With great suffering and many hours down the drain, I am updating this post with all measures taken so far and without a solution to the problem. I am still in contact with Ubisoft support.

    Here is an updated list of what we've tried so far, including even the most obvious steps:

    • Reseating the RAM
    • Reconnecting all external external devices, including monitors, and trying with just one monitor
    • Checked system requirements (obviously way better hardwarecant start R6 siege :)
      • Win 11
      • B760M DS3H AX DDR4
      • i5-12600K (not overclocked)
      • 32GB 3200MT/s RAM (also tried running @ standard 2400 MT/s)
      • Nvidia RTX 4060
      • 500GB SSD, 500GB HDD (using SSD (Ccant start R6 siege :), also tried using HDD)
      • (can post further specs if requested)
    • Reinstalling R6
    • Reinstalling Ubisoft Connect
    • Deleting EVERY file associated with R6, Ubisoft, or BattlEye
    • Updating all drivers
    • Rolling back the graphics driver
    • Disabling XMP
    • Windows diagnostics (RAM/SSD/HDD)
    • Completely reinstalling Windows
    • Trying from both Windows profiles with and without admin privileges
    • Uninstalling/stopping all 3rd party bloatware and anti-virus-software (like Norton or game boosters)
    • Trying with both Windows 10 and 11 (currently trying with Windows 11)
    • Trying both in full screen and borderless
    • Deleting the config/options file
    • Manually updating the UEFI/BIOS to the newest version -> temporarily fixed R6 crashing Win11 on startup, still crashed when tabbing out or running Discord in the background, now doesn't work anymore
    • Resetting UEFI/BIOS (still the newest version) and completely reinstalling Win11 without keeping any files on either drive
      • Trying on this clean installation with nothing on it that doesn't ship with Win11 itself, other than Ubisoft Connect and R6 obviously
      • Installing the latest Game Ready Driver from Nvidia's website
    • Opening R6 exe as administrator
    • Opening R6 Vulkan exe as administrator
    • Scanned and repaired game files through Ubisoft Connect (the game is owned only through Ubisoft Connect)
    • Deactivating all background applications and performing a clean Windows boot
    • Checking R6 servers with a different PC & account in the same network (works just fine)
    • Throughout all of this, I've been keeping R6, Ubisoft Connect, Win11, and the graphics drivers up to date
    Windows still crashes every time with the same error message. The only thing that's different from time to time is that R6 starts fine at first, then says it needs to restart for an anti-cheat update and then the PC crashes on the that start of R6.

    UPDATE: A workaround I found was using a different Ubisoft account on the same PC. With a different R6 account, there were no crashes but after switching back to the original account the crashes were back. Still in contact with Ubisoft.

    Hey,

    I do have some updates and am still open to any suggestions. At the same time that I created this post, I contacted Ubisoft's support. Here's a summary of our interaction so far:

    Ubisoft:

    [...] There are a couple of steps I can suggest though that they may not yet have covered that may resolve the issue:

    1. Ensure BIOS drivers are completely up to date to the latest version. BIOS being outdated seems to be a common cause of this situation for a number of players.
    2. Perform a clean boot and see if the same crash occurs after doing so, if it doesn't it may be as a result of a conflict with another application. I did see some players referencing Riot Vanguard running at the same time in some instances cause a conflict and a subsequent crash.     3. Ensure all clients and game executable files are installed on the same drive, if that's possible with their current system setup.
    If after performing these steps they're still stuck as they've performed a considerable amount of troubleshooting unfortunately so far to no avail we'd encourage them to submit their system files to us via a support case so we can take a look to see if they highlight any potential root cause.     I have manually installed the newest BIOS, which solved at least part of the problem. Updating through the Gigabyte Control Center didn't help, but with the manual upgrade, I fixed the Windows crash when starting R6. However, the same crash still occurs when using Alt+Tab to tab out of the game. I have made sure that both Ubisoft Connect and R6 are installed on the C: drive, that didn't change anything. I don't know why but what I said about R6 not crashing anymore on startup is limited to it running without Discord in the background; when Discord was running the problem reoccurred. Discord did not change the behavior when tabbing out, this crash happened regardless, every time.

    Regarding suggestion #2: Riot Vanguard was at no point installed, the only other games installed were Overwatch 2 and Hunt: Showdown and therefore Battle.net and Steam respectively. Sadly, following suggestion #2 broke the Windows installation. In the secure boot, my friend could not enter his PIN and the PIN recovery process failed every time. We did not manage to leave the secure boot again and at some point, Windows started crashing on startup every time ("CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED"). Currently, he is reinstalling Windows 11 with a USB installation medium.

    It is correct that the problem seems to be caused by BattlEye but it would be one thing if just the respective software would terminate or crash (R6/BattlEye/Ubisoft Connect). However, the whole operating system crashes and I feel like this is something that also falls in Microsoft's area of responsibility.

    I will update you in case we find a solution. I am still grateful for any further suggestions. This is incredibly frustrating.
