Windows 10: how to put c drive files back in their correct folders

helpI called myself trying to get rid of duplicate files. in c drive, i searched .pdf then I selected all, cut them pasted to documents. realized i screwed up royally MY work computer then i separated the files in documents cut the ones that did not belong there and pasted them back to c drive = colossal error.how can i fix this

Correct Directory Location For Pictures Folder

"Now Documents, Videos etc say file location is This PC. But Pictures file location is C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures."

If we understand you correctly, the issue is that Pictures doesn't appear in the left panel under This PC. The correct location IS C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures. This is only an issue of using Step 8 in the tutorial to add it back to the list. See if this screenshot is what you want to achieve- put Pictures folder back in list on L.

Windows.old folder is created automatically which contains previous operating system files in c: drive. As, you have performed Disk Cleanup Windows.old will be removed.

For more information I would suggest you to check if you can find Windows.old folder. Follow the steps below.

• Open File explorer. Select This PC
• Click the drive that Windows is installed on (typically, the C: drive).
• If you can find the Windows.old folder. Open the folder and check if the files are available.\

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.
