Windows 10: Private or Public network question

Hello, I have Windows 10 computer and there are two options in the network settings to either choose public or private network. Now I know that public network hides your PC from other devices and this option is best chosen if you are in a coffee shop or other public places, private makes your PC more discoverable for file sharing and other devices on your network. So I'm not certain what setting to choose for home network. I live with a roommate who also has a lab top and connects to same network. I never do any file sharing and I don't really want my PC to be seen by other devices on the net

Change Network from Public to Private

I suggest you to follow the steps below to
change your network from Public to Private:

• 
  Type PowerShell in Search Window and then right click on it and click on
  Run as Administrator.
  
• 
  Type the following command to find your interface Index:
  Get-NetConnectionProfile
  
• 
  Use your interface index (for example 5) with this command:
  Set-NetConnectionProfile -InterfaceIndex 5 -NetworkCategory Private
  
• 
  Now reboot the device and check if the network has changed from Public to Private.

Public or Private network question

OK so in in Windows 10 you can choose whether your computer is on public or private network. I did my homework so I know that Private is recommended for home and it makes your PC discovarable and opens file sharing and public is recommended for public places like coffee shops where your system acts more conservatively and is hidden from other PC's on the network. Anyways in my case my computer is at home but my parents have their own computer and I don't want my computer talking to theirs so I chose Public network. So even though I'm at home its OK to choose public network cause I don't want any other devices seeing my computer right? Or do you guys recommend still choosing private?

 

Changing wifi settings from public to private

I have seen the same question being asked with the same answer that apparently does not exist: I want to change my WiFi connection from public to private. The suggestion I keep seeing is:

1. On the right side of the taskbar, select the Wi-Fi network icon.
2. Under the name of the Wi-Fi network that you’re connected to, select
   Properties.
3. Under Network profile, select Public or
   Private.

Well I am running WIndows Home version 1903 and there is no link called
Network profile where I can select between Public or
Private.
