    windows 11 and i7-6700

    My desktop is Dell Optiplex 7010 with i7 6700 @3,4 GHz (quote core).

    Microsoft upgrade site showed me " this processor isnt currently supported for windows11"

    however my laptop Asus vivobook A510U with i5 8th-Gen processor is supported for windows 11.

    I think microsoft has made a mistake by claiming that;

    • Processors/CPUs (Central Processing Units): 1 Ghz or faster with 2 or more cores. The processor in your PC will be a main determining factor for running Windows 11. The clock speed (the 1 Ghz or faster requirement) and number of cores (2 or more) are inherent to the processor design as it was manufactured and are not considered upgradable components.
    It sounds like they base one the built generation 8th gen and above, instead of process clock speed or 2 core or above.

  4. Why is the i7-6700 CPU not supported for Windows 11?

    windows 11 and i7-6700

    On my Dell Inspiron 15 7560 service tag: CH23QK2 I performed Windows 11 installation.

    As per your suggestion, and everything is working very well (Sound, Video and all other Note hardware components).

    I've already installed the Epson L355 printer, the Ofice 365 package and Dell's own Drivers were automatically changed with Dell's SupportAssit app.

    Microsoft updates are proceeding normally. So so far I haven't found reasons why only CPUs (Intel processors i7-6700 CPU and i7-7500 CPU) are not accepted, when other computer items meet Microsoft's security requirements.

    In short, in the Note Book Dell Inspiron 15 7560 I have already performed the upgrade to Win 11 Pro.

    I will wait a few more days and do the same on my DeskTop Dell XPS 8900 Service Tag HXG 0642 which also meets all Microsoft requirements running the processor itself (i7-6700).
