Windows 10: Windows 11 Keeps Disconnecting from my External Hard Drive After a few Minutes code 0x8007045D

I'm using a Samsung T7 Portable SSD and every time I try to copy multiple files to it, after like five minutes, it won't let me copy anything else to the external hard drive and gives me code 0x8007045D. The only way to fix this is to restart the computer and try again to copy these files, But it'll only let me copy the files for five minutes at a time. It also won't let me edit any of the files once I copy them to the external hard drive. I bought a brand new external hard drive and it's still giving me this problem.

External hard drive not recognised

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.

USB Selective suspend setting under the USB tab is off.

Edit: I found this program however I don't like there solution, they suggest that external hard drives go to sleep after 10 minutes. maybe there is not way to control the sleep timer on an external drive
