How to transfer files, e.g. emails and favourite websites from old hard drive to new SSD drive

Hi,I have bought a new Windows 11 PC with a new SSD drive and they are going to install the hard drive from my old Windows 10 PC as a second drive. Whilst I am able to move the likes of Word and Excel documents from the old drive to the new drive, how do I move all of my old emails and web favourites from old to new please?

    :)

  3. Transferring old Hard Drive to New Computer?

Yes you'll be able to access your files no problem (from within the OS on the new hard drive). However dont count on it booting from that hard drive. The driver issues will most likely be too much, and it will just blue screen. Theres always a chance it will boot, so try it out, but its going to be a mess uninstalling all the drivers from the previous computer then installing the new ones. It wont be clean, thats for sure. Better to put the old hard drive in the new machine, back up your files to the new hard drive, then reinstall xp on the old hard drive from scratch, if you are able to do that. Ive tried transferring hard drives between computers several times, and most of the time (unless the computers are very similar hardware-wise, i.e. two dells of the same series) they just blue screen. A handful of times though, it has worked, so try it out and see.

As for the external, no it will still have the same effect, as the drivers will kill it (once again, most likely)

Migrating a partitioned hard drive to an SSD and another hard drive

    My OS is Windows 10.

I have a 2 TB hard drive, formatted as NTFS, that is partitioned as follows:

    - System Reserved @ 100 MB (59% free)

    - Local C: @ 886 GB (bootable) (59% free)

    - Recovery Partition @ 518 MB (100% free)

    - Local F: @ 977 GB (56% free)

The end goal is to migrate the partitions to their own independent drives as follows:

This group of partitions will be migrated to a 1TB SSD. (m.2 is not an option)

    - System Reserved @ 100 MB

    - Local C: @ 886 GB (bootable)

    - Recovery Partition @ 518 MB

This partition will be migrated to a new 2TB hard drive.

    - Local F: @ 977 GB

    Question:

What are the best practices and software utilities to successfully achieve the end goal migrations described above?

    My thoughts are:

    1. Clone the old 2TB partitioned hard drive before any migration in the event a recovery is needed.

    2. Install and format the new 2 TB hard drive for NTFS, creating a new G: volume.

    3. Copy the files on the F: volume to the new G: volume.

    4. Verify the files on G: are accessible.

    5. Unallocate the space for the F: volume.

    6. Rename the G: volume to the F: volume.

    7. Verify the files on the new F: volume are accessible.

    8. Reboot and verify everything is operating nominally.

    9. Install the SSD.

    10. Clone the old hard drive to the SSD.

    11. Reboot and modify the boot sequence, moving the SSD before the old hard drive.

    12. Verify the SSD and the new hard drive are operating nominally.
