Windows 10: PC stops working. Task manager won't open, mouse cursor can be moved. Hard reboot required.

Problem I'm having - While using desktop with Window 11 and open web browser everything works fine. Then the browser stops loading new content but the mouse cursor can still be moved. Also can't open any other programs. Next I try to open the task manager but it won't open. And the only way to shut down PC is to use power/start button on the desktop case. I've updated all drivers, still had the problem. Then I reinstalled windows while maintaining files and settings. I'm happy to do a full reinstallation deleting everything if I had some assurance that would solve my issue. Thanks in advance f

Mouse Cursor stops moving..

I cant tell if its a short in the wire. Ive tried the fix about going to virtual memory and changing those settings. Its simply just a very short stop while im moving the cursor around. Almost if it lags behind the movement. I've tried USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Its an old Dell mouse and I cant even afford to get a 5$ mouse right now with the way things are. It ypically spend free time playing FPS and this is making it to where i cant even do the thing I enjoy. Not sure what it could be. The mouse could be fine for 10-15 seconds and ill say. well okay its better. But then it will do it again shortly after.

Also, I remember there used to be a Peripherals subforum a while back here?

Try a soft uninstall from Device Manager and reboot.
Don't add 3rd party driver for mouse, use the Windows based HID driver.

 

Mouse is connected but doesnt move the cursor/pointer

Hi

So basically I have an wired mouse connected to my PC. The mouse was working perfectly fine until today when it decided to randomly stop just moving the cursor/pointer. My buttons and everything work but the mouse just doesn't want to move the cursor/pointer

Here are some stuff I tried to fix this problem (none of them worked)

- Opening up the mouse and cleaning it with compressed air

- Reinstalling the drivers of the mouse in device manager and restarting my PC

- Using Command prompt to find and delete corrupted files (it actually found one but wasn't anything about the mouse)

- Plugging in different USB ports

Also I should probably mention that I'm on a windows 11 pro.

I don't think it's in the mouse because just the cursor/pointer doesn't want to move but the mouse itself works (I tried on my older PC)

Any solutions to my problem?
