Windows 10: BitLocker Encrypted Drive Stuck at 1% - Unable to Format or Disable Encryption

I am encountering a critical issue with my external drive that I encrypted using BitLocker. The encryption process halted at 1% and has not progressed any further. As a result, the drive has become read-only.Here is a detailed description of the problem:After unlocking the drive with the password, I can access and open files, but I am unable to delete or add any files.I cannot disable BitLocker encryption as it pops up error: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error".The drive cannot be formatted in any way, whether in its encrypted or decrypted state I tried windows

Data Recovery in Bitlocker Encrypted Drive

Today my home laptop system asked for bit locker password after booting up (before login). Bit locker encryption was not enabled by me. However, to make the computer usable, C drive was formatted since there was no critical data in C Drive. However D Drive is still encrypted.



Kindly confirm

1. Can Bitlocker Encryption be enabled without intervention of the user?

Bitlocker Drive Encryption

Recently I was attempting to encrypt my drive with bitlocker because windows was suggesting to encrypt them via the security page when logging into my account. Though, when I do attempt to encrypt them with bitlocker it states that my drive is already
encrypted via bitlocker. I was wondering if there was a different way that it needs to be set up because I was hoping to add the extra layer of security to my drives with bitlocker encryption and password protecting them via a recovery key.

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Change View by from Category
  to Large Icons/Small Icons.
  
• 
  Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
  Turn BitLocker Off.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
  when the message appears.
