Windows 10: Subject: Issue Report: HDR Activation Caused Screen to Go Black on Windows 10

Hello Microsoft Staff,I'm writing to report an issue that I've encountered with Windows 10 LTSC Long-Term Servicing Channel on my system. After enabling Windows HD Color in the display settings, my computer is now unable to boot properly. I'm sharing my experience here in hopes of finding a solution or getting some assistance from the community and Microsoft.‌Details of the Issue‌:‌Operating System‌: Windows 10 LTSC‌Hardware‌: 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 Processor **I'm not sure about the specific configuration of this machine because it's a computer in my classroom.

Windows 10 HDR problems in full screen.

Hello moderator

1. Its all the games I own that don't support HDR10. Basically when I full screen on a non-HDR game, the screen goes black for a few seconds and HDR gets disabled and all the colors looked washed out (Like its in SDR)

I took 2 screenshots, One is in window mode, the other is in full screen

2. Yes SDR looks washed out. I want to play my games in full screen and in HDR. Playing in windowed mode is a nightmare

3. I know because the monitor goes black for a few seconds and all the colors look washed out (As shown in the screenshots)

Sadly the fixes did not work

I updated the GPU drivers via GeForce Experience app.

My Monitor does support 4k HDR10

I tried lower the resolution and the refresh rate but that did not work.

0:00 HDR mode is on everything looks fine (In the video, when it looks high contrast, that means HDR is on)

0:35 I full screen the game. If you notice the high contrast is no longer there, the colors are washed out

0:46 I disable full screen and HDR mode is back on

*HDR looks high contrast, Ignore that, that's just the video itself.

Im also using windows 10 64bit 1809

2. Are you getting a black or blank screen after signing in to Windows 10?
   
3. Are you getting a black screen with spinning dots after restarting the device?
   

Some of the common scenarios that can cause a black or blank screen to occur are connection problems with your display, display adapter driver update issues, or issues with recent updates or installations.

Enable HDR causes black screen

Hey guys I'm here to help with this problem since I've seen so many people have the same issue that I've solved.
What happended is that I enabled HDR mode on Windows 10 and the screen completely black out but everything else works other than that. I had tried so many methods and none of that works. I eventually using another monitor (BenQ monitor) and that works but when I tried to disable HDR, there is no option probably because the BenQ one was better monitor so it compatible. Because of black screen that you couldn't do anything, I finally found this way to solve the proplem. First, connect the monitor that you had problem again. Ran the pc into Safe Mode, disable graphic card and restart the pc. Do not try to uninstall it because it would reinstall as soon as you restarted the pc and black screen would come up again. Second, using 2nd computer to control the 1st one with teamviewer and enable graphic card. At this time, black screen would come up again on your 1st computer then using teamviewer on 2nd computer to disable HDR on your 1st pc. Hope this work for you. Best wishes.
