*Phone Link* APP HELP App automatically adds a country code, which is incorrect, to all...

I Just downloaded the Phone Link App on my desktop to speak to my Iphone, when I text a contact from the app, it creates a new message chat on my Iphone under the same number with +1 in front of it. The numbers in my contacts dont require country codes and so this is messaging an invalid number rather than the contact itself. How do I change this default setting?Thank you

    :)

  2. how to change country code in phone link windows 11 pro

I apologize for the confusion earlier. The "Country code" option may not be available in the Data formats settings. Instead, you can change the default dialing code in the Phone dialer app itself. Please follow the steps and let me know how it goes:

Click on the Start button and type "Phone" to search for the Phone app. Click on the app to open it.

In the Phone app, click on the three dots (ellipses) icon on the top right corner of the screen and select "Settings".

In the Phone settings, scroll down to the "Dialing" section and click on the "International assist" option.

Turn off the "Automatically add the country code to local numbers" toggle switch.

Click on the "Country/Region" option and select the desired country code.

Click on the "Save" button to apply the changes.

After making these changes, the Phone app should no longer add the +1 country code when you copy a phone number and click on the "Call" button.

  3. Using Phone Link and country codes

    Hello GE. Taylor,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting to the community.

We fully understand the inconvenience the issue has caused and that the current situation can be frustrating. However, your current issue may require feedback from Google to remove the country code from your contact information.

This is because sending a message via Phone Link reads your phone's contacts in order to send it successfully, and although you can manually enter a contact's phone number when sending a message in order to avoid opening your address book, this process still needs to read the information saved in your address book in order to do so. However, since you are currently using Google Contacts, and as you said Google Contacts will add the country code for your contact by default, when you manually enter the phone number of your contact, it does not match with the record saved in your Google Contacts, so you have to open Google Contacts. Also, your message was not sent successfully because the country code was added to the contact's phone number. Therefore, for your current situation, it may be a better approach to give feedback to Google to cancel the removal of country/region codes from the contact information.

Also, I would like to suggest you feedback this situation in Phone Link app. With your feedback, the Send Message feature in Phone Link should be better afterward.

    On your PC:

    1. Open the Phone Link app.
    2. Select Settings > Feedback & Community.
    3. Select Send feedback and follow instructions to file a bug with the necessary information.
      1. You'll be prompted to share diagnostic data from your mobile device. Selecting Allow helps provide additional data for diagnostic purposes so we may understand what's going on with your mobile device.
      2. Open the Feedback Hub app.
      3. Select Give new feedback.
      4. Enter your feedback with as much detail as possible, and then submit.

Your understanding is highly appreciated! Thank you for your great contribution to improving Microsoft products.

    Sincerely
