Windows 10: Microsoft account was hacked and i haven't been able to get assistance

My microsoft account was recently hacked and the password recovery info was changed to that of the hacker's. I completed the account recovery form which mentioned a 24 hour turn-around time, but have not received any response in nearly a week. I tried calling the microsoft support numbers but was unable to get through to a support agent. I created a new microsoft account, but am not able to remove the compromised microsoft account from my pc. Please help as i am afraid that losing control of this account will compromise the data on my pc.
