Accessing old Registries for programs from a prior drive to place into a new installation...

Hi, allSo recently I've had my main drive fail to boot completely and had to reinstall Windows on a new drive. However I was able to recover Program Files, Program Files x86, files from Users including AppData, and Program Data which I took from the drive that failed to boot and put it into my new windows installation Windows 10 Pro. 2. How to stop File History on the old drive and start File History on a new drive?

    I use the external drive
for File History and have a lot of information there. I want to restart the File History process on a new drive and place the previous File History drive off-site.

Please suggest the steps to stop File History on the old drive and start File History on a new drive.

Are my Registry Files all legitimate programs?

Isn't there a web tool whereby I can check if programs listed in my REGISTRY FILES are legitimate programs?

    Old Programs

Hey there JoelCollins, Happy New Year!

Unfortunately with a fresh install of the OS comes a new registry and most programs need an entry in that registry in order to function. Simply pasting the programs from your external drive won't do and you would need a full reinstall in order to run them.
Very few programs/games can be installed and moved around (usually portable versions).

I would check each program if you can salvage your save files and/or account information somehow and then, as BulldogXX suggested, find a place to get them again (the manufacturer's website of the application should provide info on that). Accessing old Registries for programs from a prior drive to place into a new installation... :)
