  2. Windows 10 automatic restore points

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Community, we understand your concern and we will try our best to help you resolve the issue.

Before we proceed, I would like you to provide the information stated below:

    1) Have you installed any third party antivirus?

    2) Have you installed any third party registry optimization software?

I would first suggest you to check if the “show more restore points” option is selected in the system restore options. If this option is not selected, it will show only the recent restore point created. Refer these steps:

    a) Press Windows key + F, type “Recovery” in the search box

    b) Click on the settings tile below the search box

    c) Click on the recovery tile and click “configure system restore”

    d) Click on the system restore button and click next

    e) By default, only the recent restore point will be displayed, click on the box against “show more restore points” below

    f) Now check.

If the above step didn’t show the restore points, then I would suggest you to check the disk space allotted to restore points. If very less space is allotted to store restore points, then it will automatically delete the old restore points. Refer these steps
    to check:

    a) Press Windows key + F, type “Recovery” in the search box

    b) Click on the settings tile below the search box

    c) Click on the recovery tile and click “configure system restore”

    d) Click on “Configure” button and check the disk space allotted.

    Hope this information helps

No restore points are created when updates are installed

    Hi,

To address your concern let's run System restore on your computer.

To check if there is restore point already created:

    • Press Windows key +
      X, select System.

    • In the left pane, click on
      System Protection
      .

    • Select the option to
      system restore
      > next. It will show all restore points already created.
    Note:

    • On installation of an update, if there is restore point already created in last 72hrs, it will not create a new restore point.
    • On installation of an application, if there is restore point already created in last 24hrs, it will not create a new restore point.

Use System restore to make restore points when you install a new app, driver, or Windows update, and when you create a restore point manually. Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore
point was made. To go back to a restore point:

    • Right-click (or press and hold) the Start button, and then select
      Control Panel.
    • Search Control Panel for Recovery.

    • Select Recovery > Open System Restore >
      Next
      .
    • Choose the restore point related to the problematic app, driver, or update, and then select
      Next > Finish.

    Thanks you.

System Restore Points: No check points created.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I understand the inconvenience you are facing. I will certainly help you with this.

If you’re not seeing any restore points, it might be because system protection isn’t turned on. To check:

    • Press Windows key + X and click on Control Panel
      ,
    • Search for Recovery, and then select Recovery.
    • Click on Configure System Restore.
    • Check if Configure and make sure Turn on system protection is selected.
To configure Restore point manually kindly refer to the below given link and check if it helps:

Hope this information helps. Post back with updated issue details for further help.

    Thank you.
