Windows 10: mic turns all muffled and static-like randomly

Ill give an example first, I'm playing a game while in discord with friends and randomly my mic will go to **** and my friends or teammates wont be able to understand me. The fix I currently use, not sure if its placebo or not but I found that switching from 1 channel to 2 channels and then back to 1 normally works. I'm confused as to what the problem is, why that's the fix, if its the fix and whatnot.

My headset microphone outputs static/very muffled sound

so i got a new headset for xmas today and when i plug the headset into the mic jack on my pc and go and record using audacity, it playbacks static/muffled audio. it is not a problem with the mic on the headset because it worked fine on my ipad. my pc does
get really dusty so mabye some dust could have fell in to the inside of the port and muffled the audio?

 

Internal microphone is muffled, noisy and really senstive

hi, so i have a problem with my internal mic on my MSI laptop. The sound is muffled and quite noisy like static. The thing is that it was not like that before, before i had clear sound without the muffeld and static sound and the mic did not pick up everything
like my keyboard. i have tried turing off the sound effect and the updating the realtek drivers. but it didnt fix it. thanks in advanced.

Ok so I been playing on my PC right,running on windows 8.1 for certain reasons,and anyway my mic is VERY VERY muffled...and I mean it sonds as if im at the bottom of the mariana trench,i have it all the way up and boosted to 30,also I am using 1 pair of
headphones as actual headphones and then using a gaming headset with a built in mic as my mic,if anyone has anyway to boost my sound more or make it so im not muffled and can actually play some SCP and talk,i would be very thankful
