Home network problem since upgrading to W10

So I had two old computers at home, one running Windows 7 and another WIndows 10. They were set up so that that W10 machine could access the drives on the W7 one, via "Map network drive". All worked fine... But the time came when I had to upgrade the OS on the W7 machien to W10, which I duly did - an upgrade, not a clean install. And now, I simply cannot get the other W10 machine to see its drives any more. When I try to map a network drive I get a message saying it's not accessible. I have been over and over all the settings, and everything is set as it should be and just as it was bef

    W10 upgrade problems

Hello I have tried the network adapter trouble shooter and got no problems. The other article you suggested refers to W8 and I am running W7 SP1. Anything else you can suggest? I am not going to try to upgrade again till I get a solution as with no
internet access I cannot look for help and neither could I check for W10 updates which may be able to help. thanks Terry

  3. I'm online from my wifi laptop but can't connect to my home network

Nope, I've tried all the steps of all the fixes listed by Dalchina and Try3 but the problem still exists. The W10 laptop refuses to access my main W7 pc (named CG16) on my home network, although it can 'see' it, ie, it shows CG16 in the network list. The only thing I haven't tried is Dalchina's suggestion about creating a shortcut, mainly because I'm not sure where this shortcut is supposed to be. I'm assuming it has to be on the W10 laptop but I don't understand how it could work. More info please, Dalchina, if you'd be so kind. Daymin, sorry: I have no idea what you're trying to say.

No network connection after upgrade from W7 to W10

    Hi John,

Thank you for using Windows 10.

We understand your concern suggest you to perform the following methods and check:

    Method 1:

Run the Network Troubleshooter and check if that helps. Here is the steps:

    • Click on Start button and type
      Troubleshoot and select Troubleshooting.

    • Click on Network and Internet, click on
      Network Adapter.

    • Follow the onscreen instructions.
    Method 2:

Update the Network Adapter driver. Here is the steps:

    • Press Windows+X key on your desktop and select
      Device Manager.

    • Locate Network drivers, expand, right click and click
      on Update.

If it doesn’t help, then I would suggest you to
uninstall and re-install the Network Adapter drivers
in compatibility mode. Here is the steps:
    • Go to your manufacturer’s website
and download the Driver’s setup file for your computer.
    • Press Windows Key + R on your desktop screen to go to run box.
    • Type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
    • Under Driver, expand, then right click and select
      Uninstall.
    • If you are prompted to Confirm then Confirm.
    • Go to the location where you had saved your downloaded setup files of the drivers and
      right click, then select Properties.
    • Select Compatibility Tab.
    • Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
    • Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.
Keep us informed about the status of the issue and let us know if you need further assistance and we’ll be happy to help you.
