Windows 10: Why does my laptop not recognize that it underwent an update?

I have and Acer laptop that's about 5 years old but still functions like it's new. I got a prompt that I should update it to Windows 10 so I did. It updated without any errors and finished the update, however when I turned on the laptop it was as if I didn't do anything. I thought maybe it was an error so I updated it again, no errors, everything was ok. The update finished but same thing again. I don't know what to do and how it's even possible that it's not recognizing that it has been updated.

To assist you better, I would like to ask if the laptop is unable to recognize only the external monitor or other external devices also.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
