Windows 10: The WORD shortcut icon from bottom menu-bar no longer works gives no response.

1. I Click on the WORD icon shortcut under the START menu, with no response. 2. I next right-click on the WORD shortcut from the START menu and select the option 'Open file location' taking me to the Word shortcut under 'Programs'. Clicking or Dbl-clicking here also does nothing no response. 3. Right clicking here on the 'WORD icon' shortcut under 'Programs', opens another menu where I again click the option 'Open file location' taking me to the 'WINWORD Application' line under "Program Files > root > Office16". Clicking or Dbl-clicking here does nothing, but if I right-cl

Desktop Shortcut Icons

Hi Mik-Dav,

The desktop shortcut created for a specific website should bear the website's actual logo. With what you've experienced, there could be something wrong with how the shortcut was created.

If you've created the shortcut by selecting Create shortcut, then we suggest that you try the other way, that is by dragging the website icon that appears in the address bar to your desktop. Follow these steps:

• Using Internet Explorer, access a website.
• Once the website opens, you will see its icon in the address bar.
• Click and drag the icon on your desktop.

The website shortcut bearing its actual logo should now be saved on your desktop.

Is there any way to get the original icons to display again after the shortcuts are moved into a folder?

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

Please be informed, the view of files, folders, shortcuts etc. will be set to small icons by default, due to which you will not be able to see the shortcut's icon.

I suggest you to follow these steps:

• 
  Click on View
  menu in the menu bar.
  
• 
  Select either of these options
  medium, large or extra-large icons and you will be able to see the icon of the shortcut.

Opening an app from an icon pinned to the task bar gives strange result

Thanks for the quick response. None of the suggestions worked although I did not download a fresh version. I did find a solution by dragging the icon from its location to the task bar. Strange that pinning introduces unwanted steps while dragging the icon gives a clean opening.
