Windows 10: pc wont recognize controller

my pc will not read my controller with blue tooth or with a usb connection. the xbox controller flashes but isnt connected i have tried many things but none of them have worked

Did you update the USB controllers drivers?

Method 1: Run the Hardware Troubleshooter

The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which checks the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues and provides the details on how to fix them. Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter.

        Open Control Panel.
        
      • 
        Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
        
      • 
        In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.
        
      • 
        Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
        
      • 
        Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.
        
      • 
        Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
        

You may uninstall the corrupt USB controllers drivers from device manager(Windows +X) and click on update drivers. Let Windows check for the drivers.

1. What device are you trying to use?

3. What error message or code are you experiencing?
   
4. What is the controller that you are using? Is this an Xbox Controller or a third-party controller?
   

Troubleshooting you can try for your controller issue:

• Restart device and see if your controller will connect.
  
• Try to connect controller on a new device or a mobile. See if the new device and your mobile can recognize the controller.

Xbox One controller being recognized as a 360 Controller

Hi Stephan,

There are several reasons why your Xbox One controller is detected as an Xbox 360 controller by your PC. It is possible that the controller is not updated or if you previously used an Xbox 360 controller on the PC, it is still detecting its drivers instead
of the Xbox One controller drivers. To properly isolate your concern, please clarify the following information:

• Have you used an Xbox 360 controller on the same computer before?
• Does the error message occur on all of the games that you play?
• Have you tried to update the controller?
• Are you using an Xbox One Elite controller?
