Windows 10: Internal Microphone isnt working

This is happening for a while now but I only now have the courage to ask this. I did everything to fix it but just cant. I tried the mmsys.cpl already and it shows that the microphone was working like when I speak it spikes. But when I tried it using the audio recorder I just got blank showing that the mic was infact NOT working. I also tried the privacy settings and turned them all to on. Im wondering if this is a hardware issue and what component should I buy to fix it. The laptop I have is the ASUS X415 P1411CEA. Thanks

Internal microphone not working

Hello all, I got a new laptop (ASUS Zenbook). Everything was working for a few weeks and now the internal microphone stopped working when I turn on headphones (not headset - headphones without microphone).

I tried video chatting and I could hear sounds but I cannot speak. But without the headphones, I can speak.

• This is the same headphone and I could speak before.
• I am sure that the microphone is enabled, and set as the default microphone.
• All my windows updates are updated.
• I restarted twice.

I have windows 10 installed on it.

Hoping you guys can help me, thank you in advance.

We'd like to confirm if you're still unable to utilize the internal microphone after installing the update? If yes, as an initial step to get the microphone working again, we suggest that you update the driver under
Audio Inputs and Outputs in the Device Manager. The steps on how to update the device driver on your device can be found on this

Constant Muting Internal Microphone
