Windows 10: Why does my laptop partially work on WiFi's that are NOT my home WiFi?

This only started recently. When I'm at home, my laptop works just fine, but once I'm on someone else's WiFi or my school's WiFi, my laptop picks and chooses what it allows to work. For example, I try to open Discord using the app, but its forever loading. However, I can access it just fine using its website. With Roblox, the website doesnt work; it gives me an error that says, "Failed to download or apply critical settings, please check your internet connection." It works perfectly fine on the Roblox app, though. When I'm connected to my school's WiFi, absolutely NOTHING works. It's as if im

be careful about ugprading the wifi, some laptop BIOS lock down the system to only work with what they shipped with. you also need to make sure you ahve the right aerials too (EG, if you had a card with one wifi aerial and one bluetooth aerial, going to a card with 3x wifi sockets and no BT wouldnt exactly work right)

 

Wifi names

I was wondering can you put anything as a wifi name for example I wanted to put CIA-outpost-#### random number is that illegal? I've seen FBI surveillance van 006 before on my list of wifi names I can pick up.

• If you have an identical laptop try comparing the wifi and security settings of the one that does not disconnect with the one that does. If you find any differences change the settings of the one that does not work to the one that does.
