Windows 10: Why does Microsoft claim that Windows 7 is "not genuine" when it absolutely is.

I just restarted an one of my older laptop computers. The computer is a Dell laptop that still has the original OEM Windows 7 that it came with. That copy of Windows was "activated" years ago. NOTHING has been changed. Still the original motherboard, CPU, RAM, hard drive, everything is original. Today when I powered up the laptop Windows says it is not genuine.Of course Microsoft no longer provides any support for questions about Windows being "genuine" just the boilerplate nonsense telling you to buy Windows 11 which almost certainly wouldn't run on this old laptop even if I wanted to p

Windows 7 not genuine problem

It seems like that's an OEM windows copy, it will do that the every time you reinstall the OS. If you have the key, next time you see the "not genuine windows copy" click it and choose to activate by phone, everything else is pretty straight forward as it explains step-by-step. If it doesn't work, then its highly likely that you got a Pirate copy.

Surely, at some point, they will 'force' this update on us? ie, unless you install "Update for Microsoft Windows (KB971033)", program (enter name here) will not run. etc etc...
