Windows 10: Rearranging photos in a folder

When is Ms going to restore one time ability to drag and arrange pics in order USERS want in a WINDOWS PHOTO folder eg all cats, all dogs, all horses in groups, or even at random, then rename so the order is as the USER wants?It is impossible to rearrange contents of a big folder by laboriously renaming each photo one by one.

How can to rearrange pictures in a folder in Windows 10?

The Sort By filters offered in the step above do not allow me the flexibility I want. Is there a way to turn off the auto arrange for photos.

• Browse to the folder with the files or photos you want to rearrange.
• Tap or click Sort, and then choose Rearrange.
• If prompted, install Microsoft Silverlight.
• Arrange the files or photos by dragging them in the order you want them to appear.
• Tap or click Save sort order.

Hi Greg , thanks for the suggestion.. irfanviewer did manage to do what I was looking for, however there is still a bit of a learning curve to using the viewer, as I could rearrange the photos , however I didn't really know how to use the viewer properly
so when I left the folder, my order was lost (the irfan viewer resorted the photos )... I know that the irfan viewer could be stopped from resorting the photos and could be set to save the order, but I managed to work around the problem using the functionality
I could quickly use from the viewer.. I could certainly see why this viewer is preferred over windows explorer.. thanks for your help..
