Windows 10: Unable to reset PowerShell back to default colors

A while back I changed the PowerShell colors from the default settings and I'd like to change them back. However, there doesn't seem to be any instructions on how to reset PowerShell to return to default colors. I've tried the standard user and Administrator PowerShell windows and any changes I make to the properties or default properties do not appear to take effect. What is more confusing is that when I compare the settings between the modified PowerShell properties on System 1 and look at the PowerShell properties on System 2 they appear to be identical. However System 2 has the default col

Yes. Have a look at this MS article about PowerShell profiles. It will show you what different profiles are available, where they are stored and how to start sessions without using a profile, i.e. default fonts, colours, etc.

I think you are referring to the PowerShell console / window rather than to any PS code.

1 Open your existing PS window
2 On your Desktop, right-click, New, Shortcut and make a new shortcut to open a PS window by entering the 'Location' powershell.exe then run it to open another PS window. It will open with default properties.
3 Click on the >_ icon in the top-left corner of each window & select Defaults.
4 Copy any properties you want from the new one to the old one.
