Windows 10: Laptop keyboard working strangely.

My Windows 10 laptop keyboard recently acted strangely, it wouldn't register me typing singular keys but if i type multiple keys at once it starts scrolling/typing random key that i didn't click/open up browsers. Like i can click space and b at the same time and it would type fsda or jk;\ and it really confused me on what the problem is. It only happens occasionally before but now it seems to be extremely common, i tried to troubleshoot it in multiple ways but nothing fixed it. Please tell me is this a virus or is this hardware damage because im out of ideas.

Suggest you to plug in an external keyboard to the laptop to check if that helps.

Further you may also use the onscreen keyboard to check if that helps.

Follow these steps to launch the On-screen keyboard:

  Press Windows key + R to get the run window.

  Type “osk” and hit enter to launch the On-screen keyboard and check if this helps.

strange behaviour keyboard ps/2 of my laptop

This is not necessarily a driver or Windows or software issue.

I would suggest that you try a different keyboard via USB or bluetooth. If the issue continues, then we know it is software, otherwise it is a defective keyboard on the laptop. I think this step is crucial to help us narrow down our next step.

 

laptop keyboard and touchpad not working

Problem: computer starts up normally and goes to the password log-in screen, but nothing happens when I try to enter the password. The computer doesn't appear to see any keystrokes.
Solutions tried:

1. rebooted
2. removed and replaced main battery
3. attached USB keyboard
4. hit Enter key on startup: successful in opening the Advance Options menu, but am unable to take any of the actions because all require that I enter the laptop password
5. looked for an onscreen keyboard, but there isn't one because this isn't a touch screen computer

Why I think this is a Windows issue:

1. the computer recognizes when I hit the Enter key on startup
2. the USB keyboard doesn’t work
3. the keyboard touchpad doesn’t work, but the attached USB mouse DOES work
