Hello, I bought an ASUS Gaming Laptop TUF F15 FX506HE last year early January 2024 with a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card ver 3.0.1.1325 and recently my laptop's Wi-Fi icon sometimes disappear along with its driver at various times from either:1. Wifi adapter disappears - goes 'hidden'

Running Windows 10 on an Acer laptop. Over the past month, the wifi connection dropped without explanation/warning.

First time, the adapter was visible in Device Manager (with a yellow triangle next to it). An interent search found the suggestion to uninstall it and restart. That worked.

Today, the connection dropped again. In Device Manager at first I could not see the wifi adapter listed. I clicked to see hidden devices and found the adapter and the Bluetooth (which I had not noticed was missing).

I again uninstalled, restarted, and both the wifi and bluetooth have returned.

Anyone any ideas as to what is happening, why it's happening, and what I need to do, please?

I have attached a screenshot of the DM windows as it is now, showing the wifi adapter name, etc.

    Thanks very much

  3. Blackscreen-wifi icon disappearing

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The issues you're experiencing with your ASUS A15 laptop, such as the disappearing Wi-Fi icon, problems with the settings menu, frequent black screens, and automatic restarts when scanning for hardware changes, suggest there might be multiple underlying causes. These could range from software issues, driver issues, to potential hardware problems. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these issues:

Ensure your system is up to date with the latest Windows 11 updates, which can resolve known issues and compatibility issues.

    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
    • Install any available updates and restart your computer.
Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause the issues you're experiencing. Make sure all your device drivers, especially the Wi-Fi and graphics drivers, are up to date.

    • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the sections and look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark, which indicates a problem.
    • For your Wi-Fi and graphics cards, right-click the device and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
    • You can also download the latest drivers directly from the ASUS support website or the device manufacturer's website.
Given that scanning for hardware changes causes a restart, there might be a hardware issue at play.

    • Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for RAM issues: Type Windows Memory Diagnostic into the search bar and select Restart now and check for problems.
    • Check your hard drive or SSD for errors: Open This PC, right-click your system drive (usually CWiFi Icon disappears and its driver goes missing at various moments. Returns after restart... :), select Properties > Tools > Check under Error checking.
A clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help you determine if background programs are causing the issues.

    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
    • Switch to the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager, and disable all startup items.
    • Restart your computer and check if the issue persists.
    • Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.
Corrupted system files can lead to various issues. Running SFC and DISM commands can repair them.

    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • After it completes, type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
    • Restart your computer after the process completes.
Since the Wi-Fi icon disappears frequently, resetting the network settings might help.

    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset.
    • Click Reset now.
If none of the above steps work, consider using System Restore to revert your computer back to a point when everything was working correctly. If that doesn't resolve the issue, a system reset might be necessary.

    • For System Restore, search for Create a restore point, and in the System Properties dialog, click System Restore.
    • To reset your PC, go to Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC.
If you continue to experience issues after trying these solutions, there might be a more serious hardware problem, and you should consider contacting ASUS support or a professional repair service, especially since your laptop is relatively new and might still be under warranty.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Best regards

  4. WiFi Icon disappears and its driver goes missing at various moments. Returns after restart...

No WIFI icon in windows 10

So today when playing games, I noticed that the WIFI icon showed me that I am not connected to the internet, but I was still able to browse the internet. I used task manager to restart Explorer, and the WIFI icon disappeared completely. I tried disabling then enabling the driver, but nothing happened. What do I do to fix this problem? If I press the Network Icon in the action centre, it shows the network window, but it doesn't list the wifi networks.
