Windows 10: How might I cancel the restart process when I am updating windows 11?

I have had this issue before, and I am not sure that it resolved on its own, or I had MS support help me. However, recently, I have noticed that if I have something like file explorer open, or some files, and there is an update that is pending a restart, but I restart Windows, this happens:There is a prompt asking if I want to cancel the restart and close the files and/or folders that are open.But if I say that I want to cancel the process, Windows 11 does not allow me to do so.How might I resolve this issue? Advice would be appreciated.

Cancel Windows 11 upgrade in process

Windows 11 upgrade was accidentally accepted during an aggressive urging.

Now still in Windows 10, but at the "Accept License Terms for Windows 11" stage in Windows Update. There is not a "cancel upgrade" choice, but Windows 10 is desired.

The choice is either to proceed with the Upgrade by accepting the License Terms, or to close the window. If you close the window, the choice remains and no other updates seem to be processed.

How can this be cancelled? Also there are many unwanted popups.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
