Windows 10: Boot issue with Windows 10 Update December 2024

Hi folks, hope you've been enjoying the Christmas holiday period. Sadly my laptop hasn't! Lenovo Ideapad 310 x64 running Windows 10. 2Tb Samsung SSD. MS Office 365 Personal. December 2024 Windows update has been preventing it from rebooting. Here's what I've tried following the original update install and subsequent restart/boot failure buffering circle for several hours, with varying degrees of success:- Restore to restore point from recovery environment - successful. - Allowed Windows Update to download again and restart - boot fail buffering circle for several hours- Elevated cmd in Win

I was having a slow boot issue on my Windows 7 install a little while back. It would take about 30 - 40 extra seconds to boot up for whatever reason.

I would try following these steps, while this didn't solve my issue, it did increase Read/Write to where it should be.

In the end, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 entirely to fix the booting issue. It was taking around 35 seconds to boot, and after the fresh install it takes about 7 seconds to boot.

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

i cant say for sure what might be causing problems for those who are experiencing issues, but I figured it couldnt hurt to point this out to those who might not be aware of it, it is ONLY effecting Insider program members. as far as M$ has announced.
