My new USB Type C headphones when plugged in work as volume controls, but are not recognized as headphones, when checking in the device manager they appear under Universal Serial Bus controllers as USB Composite Device and are not showing in the output in my sound settings, I see them in only one menu and that is the Other Devices tab in Bluetooth and Devices tab in the settings, and a Driver is unavailable message under them.i have tried running the sfc /scannowDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealthsfc

  2. Windows 11 suddenly doesn't recognize my usb headphones

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Given the situation with your Razer Barracuda X headphones disappearing from the sound devices list after multiple power outages while connected to your PC, it seems like the issue could be related to corrupted device drivers or system settings caused by the abrupt power cuts. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

    1. Perform a Hard Reset on the Headphones

Some devices can be reset by performing specific actions, which might not be clearly documented. For the Razer Barracuda X, consult the manual or Razer's support to check if there's a way to reset the device. This can sometimes clear issues that cause the device not to be recognized.

    2. Check Device Manager

    • Reconnect your headphones to the PC.
    • Open Device Manager (right-click on the Start button and select it).
    • Look under Sound, video, and game controllers to see if your headphones are listed. If not, check under Other devices or Universal Serial Bus controllers for any devices marked with a yellow exclamation mark or listed as "Unknown Device."
    • If you find your device listed incorrectly or with an error, right-click on it and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers. If that doesn't work, select Uninstall device, disconnect your headphones, restart your PC, and then reconnect them.
    3. Check Windows Sound Settings

    • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
    • Under Output, check if your device is listed as an option. If it's not, click on Manage sound devices and see if the headphones appear as a disabled device. If so, enable them.
    4. Update or Reinstall USB Controllers

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Right-click on each item under this section and select Update driver. If updates don't resolve the issue, you can try Uninstall device for each USB controller listed. Don't worry; Windows will reinstall these automatically upon restart.
    • Restart your PC after updating or uninstalling to let Windows reinstall necessary drivers.
    5. Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Enter the following command and press Enter

      msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
    6. Razer Synapse Software

    • If not already done, download and install the Razer Synapse software from Razer's official website.
    • Sometimes, having the official software installed can help in detecting and resolving issues with the device.
    7. Try on Another PC or Device

    • If possible, try connecting your headphones to another PC or a device with a USB-C port (using an adapter if necessary) to see if they're recognized. This can help determine if the issue is with the headphones themselves or your PC.
If after trying these steps your Razer Barracuda X headphones are still not recognized by your PC, it might be necessary to contact Razer's customer support for further assistance or to explore warranty options if applicable.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Best regards

  3. USB-C type headphones not working

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

This error of Screen flashing/flickering on Windows 10 is usually due to incompatible drivers. The incompatible app, programs or display driver causes the screen to flicker every time when you do your work.

Please help me with the below questions.

    1. Have you tried connecting the head phones on different USB ports and different computer?
    2. Have you tried connecting the different head phones on a same device?
    3. What is the make and model of the computer?
However, you may try the below suggested steps.

Method 1: Make headset as default device

    1. Click on Start, type in Control Panel.
    2. Click on Sound, and select Recording tab.
    3. Select your headset as the default device and click on
      OK
      .

Method 2: Run the Audio troubleshooter

    1. Click on Start button and then click on Settings icon.
    2. In Settings click on Updates & Security.
    3. Click on Troubleshoot from the left pane and then click on
Playing Audio and Run the Troubleshooter option in the right pane.
    4. Follow the on screen instructions as the Audio Troubleshooter tries to diagnose and fix sound problems on your computer.

    Method 3: Update Audio drivers

    1. Click on Start, type in ‘Device manager’.
    2. Under Sound, Video and game controllers, select your sound card.
    3. Click on the Sound card and select driver tab and click on Update driver.
If the steps didn’t work, try uninstalling your audio driver:

    1. Open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the audio driver, and select Uninstall.
    2. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
If windows doesn’t find a new driver, look for the one on the device manufacturer’s website.

    Hope it helps.
