My virtual ram is not being used

I have added 15360MB of virtual memory as minimum.shown belowhttps://ibb.co.com/YZVZtmMPreviously, my system was functioning well, using about 20-40% of my virtual memory, and gaming ran smoothly without crashes. However, after a random restart of my PC, I noticed that Windows stopped utilizing my virtual memory entirely as shown in the image and started relying on the system working set instead. This change has significantly impacted my computer's performance, causing gaming FPS drops and frequent crashes. I've searched the internet extensively but haven't found any solutions. As a last r

Yes, you can allocate most or all of your physical RAM to a virtual machine and rely on virtual memory (paging file) for your host system.

Steps to Allocate Physical RAM to a Virtual Machine

    Open Virtual Machine Manager:

Open your virtualization software (e.g., VirtualBox, VMware, Hyper-V).

    Adjust VM Memory Settings:

Select the virtual machine and go to its settings.

Find the memory allocation section (often under "System" or "Resources").

Allocate the desired amount of physical RAM (e.g., 8GB) to the VM.

Configure Virtual Memory on Windows Host

    Open Virtual Memory Settings:

Press Windows + Pause/Break to open System Properties.

Click on Advanced system settings on the left.

Under the Advanced tab, click Settings in the Performance section.

Go to the Advanced tab again and click Change under Virtual memory.

    Set Paging File Size:

Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives if it's checked.

Select your system drive (usually CMy virtual ram is not being used :).

Choose Custom size and set the initial and maximum size. For example, if you have an 8GB RAM, you might set it to 8192MB (8GB) or more to ensure the host system has enough virtual memory to compensate for the lack of physical RAM.

Hello! My name is Cristiano. I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you.

First off, it's great that you've already allocated 15000MB (15GB) of virtual memory as the minimum. That's a good start. However, it seems like Windows is still predominantly utilizing your physical RAM.

To ensure that Windows effectively uses your virtual RAM, here are a few steps you can follow:

    1. Open the "System Properties" window by right-clicking on the "This PC" or "My Computer" icon on your desktop and selecting "Properties."

    2. In the System Properties window, click on the "Advanced system settings" link on the left-hand side.

    3. A new window will appear. Under the "Performance" section, click the "Settings" button.

    4. In the Performance Options window, navigate to the "Advanced" tab.

    5. Look for the "Virtual memory" section and click on the "Change" button.

    6. Ensure that the option "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is unchecked.

    7. Select the drive where your operating system is installed (usually the C: drive).

    8. Choose the "Custom size" option and set both the initial size (minimum) and maximum size to 15000MB (or any desired value you want to allocate). Make sure the values are the same.

    9. Click on the "Set" button, then hit "OK" to save the changes and close all the windows.

By configuring the virtual memory settings manually, you're instructing Windows to utilize the allocated space effectively. This should allow your system to use virtual RAM more frequently.

I hope these steps help you.

  4. My virtual ram is not being used

I need to use my physical ram on a virtual machine and want to use the virtual ram for the pc.

I have a windows 10 virtual machine that I want to give most of my RAM to. I then decided to use virtual ram so I could use it for my system. If I use all of my 8 gigabytes of physical RAM for the virtual machine, will i still be able to use virtual RAM for my windows PC to function?
