Windows 10: How to Fix Windows 11 Recognizing Bluetooth Device Headset/Speaker Only as Hands-Free?

Hi everyone,I’m facing an issue with my Bluetooth device on Windows 11. When the device connects, Windows only recognizes it as "Hands-Free" with low audio quality instead of "Headphones" with HD audio quality.I want the Bluetooth device to connect as headphones to ensure better audio quality, similar to how Windows gives you a choice when plugging in wired earphones, such as "Headphones", "Headset", or "Mic In".So far, I’ve been using the following workaround:"Go to Bluetooth settings in Device Manager and disable the AVRCP driver for your headphones. Bluetooth no longer recognizing my headset

Hi, I'm using Version 19045.3930 I have been using my Bluetooth every day for ages on my laptop. But yesterday I disconnected it, as I needed my laptop speakers. (I now know I should have just turned off the headset to achieve this), and they wouldn't reconnect to the laptop later. So I followed the advice in several YouTube videos that told me to change all Bluetooth items from Manual to Automatic in Services.





I did that, and all Bluetooth items listed are now set to Automatic. And I restarted as advised. There was an update so I let that happen... Still to no avail. I then searched this forum and found that I should also make sure all Bluetooth drivers are up to date. And my laptop told me they already were up to date. What else can I try please? Thank you

 

Bluetooth speaker recognized as headset

Hi,

I've tried updating devic drivers, uninstall reinstall device drivers, turned on/off audio enhancement, turned on/off exclusivity

My bluetooth fuugo speaker used to be listed as speaker but after the latest windows update, it's now connected as headset. I think this is a problem because now my speaker has a noticeable drop in high volumes. With audio noticeably being lessened in volume
compared to before the update. The same video played on my mobile device has higher volume.

A possible cause why your Bluetooth speaker connects as a headset could be an outdated Bluetooth driver. We suggest that you download and install the latest Bluetooth driver from the manufacturer's website and see if it helps. After ensuring that the correct
driver is installed, check if the device is recognized in the Device Manager.
