Cortana is not replying to any of my questions

Logout and login into Cortana using a Microsoft account and check if the issue is resolved. Follow the steps below to logout and login into Cortana on the computer.



Step 1: To logout of Cortana, follow the steps below:

• Click on Cortana icon located next to Start button on the Task bar.
• Click on Notebook located at the left panel of the Cortana Window.
• Click on About me and select the Microsoft account you are currently logged in into.
• Click on the user account displayed in the window and select Sign out.

Step 2: To sign in into Cortana, follow the steps below:

• Click on Cortana icon located next to Start button on the Task bar.
• Click on Notebook located at the left panel of the Cortana Window.
• Click on About me and login using the Microsoft account credentials.
• Close the window and check if the changes are effective.

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to try to turn Cortana off and then try turning it on back and check. Refer to the steps below to turn Off and On Cortana:

• Open Cortana.
• Click the hamburger button in the top left of the window.
• Go to settings and click on off.
• Follow the same steps to turn it on.
• Check if issue persists.

I appreciate you laying out all the issues related to Cortana chronologically.

Cortana is available in the following countries/regions: China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States. Cortana is available in these languages: Chinese (Simplified), English (U.K.), English (U.S.), French, Italian, German, and
Spanish

• To use Cortana, all these settings must be set to the same language:
  • Languages (this is your device language)
  • Speech language (language pack must be installed)
  • Country or region
• Note: If you change your region, you might not be able to shop at Store, or use things you've purchased, like memberships and subscriptions, games, movies, TV, and music.

As per the latest update, if Cortana is not working (freezing/not responding), I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if the issue persists.

a) Press Windows key + R, type regedit and click OK.

b) Go to the location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>Advanced

c) Create a new DWORD(32-bit) value, type: EnableXamlStartMenu"

d) Open task Manager and close Microsoft EDGE from there ( if open )

e) Restart the system

f) Search on Cortana to test if it is working fine.
