Windows 10: WiFi Problem After Latest Windows Updates

Hello,I started having WiFi problem after recent Windows updates. The WiFi will show as connected and troubleshooter won’t detect any problem, but I am not able get on the internet. WiFi is working for the whole household on all other devices including a work computer that follows IT update schedule. The only way I can get the WiFi work for a few second is if I do a restart, or pick a different network, but it’ll stop working again after 5-20 seconds. I tried all the tricks I could find: clean dns cache; uninstall driver; reset network. All only worked for a few seconds - I don’t even know

I'll tell you how I fixed an identical problem on a ASUS laptop that had run perfectly on Windows 7 and ran well on W10 from January until the Anniversary update in early August. I tried everything I found on this forum and two others. Nothing worked. The last thing someone suggested was disabling the adapter and using a WiFi dongle. Problem continued. Nobody suggested changing the wireless network adapter. I bought and installed an Intel 7260 WiFi card and just used the driver which was downloaded on the reboot after the install. All problems solved!!

I must have wasted two months reading and trying everything. Even the manufacturer support inferred I needed a new machine though they sent me a Windows 8.1 driver to try, with the same result.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to determine if they white list any cards and see if they have suggestions for a compatible card. They may want you to buy another laptop but if the cards aren't white listed, a simple card swap to one compatible with Windows 10 seems to be the answer.

Method 1: Network troubleshooting

• On the search bar type“Troubleshooting”
• Click on “Network and Internet”
• Click on“Network Adapter” and run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for the Wi-Fi adapter

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

• On the search bar type “ Device Manager”
• On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it
• Right on the “ Wireless adapter” option and click “Uninstall’
• Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.
