I have updated the BIOS on the motherboard, I have updated the drivers, I have turned OFF all the power management for all USB devices and STILL the drivers are turning the devices off and on at random and I am getting sick and tired of hearing the USB device disconnected, USB device connected tones played back to back.AMD USB 2.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.20 Microsoft PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15B8&SUBSYS_88771043&REV_00\4&89701DF&0&0043AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.20 Microsoft PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15B7&SUBSYS_88771043&REV_00\4&1EBE6A9C&0

  2. USB composite device "driver error"

Can you send us a screenshot of the error message? We suggest uninstalling and re-installing USB drivers and check if the issue persists. To do that, please follow these steps:

    • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Right-click on the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click on
      Uninstall to remove it.
    • Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Restart the computer. Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.

    Regards.

    unknown device USB

    Hi Ali,

In most cases, this issue can be caused by either an unstable/ corrupt USB controller or your computer's drivers need to be updated.

For us to isolate the possibilities, we suggest that you perform the following troubleshooting steps in succeeding order:

    • Connect your USB drive to a different port. Alternatively, try to connect it to a different PC.
    • Connect a different USB drive to your PC.
    • Unplug your USB drive and restart your system. Afterwards, plug it in and see if it works. If the same issue occurs, perform a complete shutdown and wait for a few minutes before turning it on again.
    • Update your drivers.

If you find that the USB drive still doesn't work even after performing all these suggestions, this is most likely pointing to a hardware issue. Thus, it would be best to get in touch with your device manufacturer for a thorough check of the device.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post back and let us know.
