Windows 10: Problem with external drive Maxtor STSHX-M101TCBM HDD Hard disk

hi, i have a problem with this device. When i link it to my laptop as soon as it becomes slow or block. It's has long time i have this problem. I try to use it on another pc and it works. I have an HP Pavillon 15 cw with AMD Ryzen 5300. Maybe some conflict between hdd and any software?

I have an elderly Maxtor MSS-0022FD external hard drive 300GB SN:B60XV24H, it has no usb port, so plugged to Xfinity router w/netwk cable,

Using old Maxtor Quick Start (Firmware 1.2.2) I can see Main Menue & listing of Shared Folders, access securities and even change items.

(I am assuming it is doing this on the Maxtor Drive itself & not just within the firmware, ie. how else would it know my folders correctly)

But - Can't open or look at any folders so can't see/access any files on the drive (trying to get them off onto other storage)

Also can not see the drive itself showing up in the Network Sharing / Devices lookup.

I am using Windows 10 currently (tried uploading 11 but I am short memory in my pc so it keeps trying but can't finish)

Any suggestions how I might be able to get my files off the old Maxtor?
