Microsoft thinks I am my 10 year daughter

Thank you for the suggestion and step by step instructions. Would doing this eliminate or delete the present Family Safety set up now? And end the connection with my 10 year old daughter to my primary gmail account? That seems to be the key issue. When I enter my primary gmail account for me, an adult Microsoft reads that email as it is my 10 year old daughter because of the Family Safety. I do not want to create another gmail account as I have so many other things linked to my primary. I also do not want to have multiple email accounts. Can you please tell me how to delete the Family Safety and unlink my 10 year daughter from my primary gmail account.

    Thank you!

Microsoft thinks I am my 10 year daughter

I appreciate the response. This does not work as when I try to change the birthdate it is grayed out and does not allow me to alter it. The system thinks I am my daughter and due to Family Safety, it does not let a 10-year-old change their birthdate. That is the issue. When I logged into my new HP laptop and account, I used my gmail which apparently is also linked to an account created years ago for my daughter. I want to delete the present Family Safety account and just have Microsoft and my HP identity be me by my gmail account only. At this time it show the administrator of the System as a 10 year old. How do I delete the Family Safety account?

    Thank you

  4. New laptop for my daughter doesn't create a new microsoft for my 14 year old daughter. Oh...

I want to give my fairly new laptop to my daughter for Christmas.

    Hi Tom,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Let me help you.

I suggest you to create a new local account for your daughter if she don’t have an account yet. Then give the administrator privileges to the account.

Once you logged in with the daughter’s account, you can remove the older admin account (Yours) and use the new one as admin account.

Go through the below steps to create a new local account.

Method 1: Create a Local Account

Create a local account and try log in to your system.

Check if it allows you to log in.

If you are able to log in. I suggest you to make it as MS Account and see if the issue persists or not.

Refer the below article created by Andre Da Costa to know
How to: create a Local Account in Windows 10.

To remove Microsoft user account follow the steps below:

NOTE: It is always recommended you keep a backup of all your data and the go ahead with the process.

    • Type User Accounts in the search bar and click Enter.

    • Click on Manage another account.

    • Click on the User account you wish to delete.

    • Click on the Delete the account.

    • In the prompt you can either click on keep files (which will keep a backup of all your files) or delete files (which will delete all the files associated with this account).

    • Click on Delete Account.

    • Close Control Panel.

I hope the information helps. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us again. We will be happy to assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.
