Windows 10: Updated to windows 11 and now i cant find my recovery partition.

I ran into an issue last night with my pc not wanting to boot up. After i finally got it working it said there was an issue with the boot disk. I wanted to create a recovery partition in my external SSD which would be Disk 0 in the new volume space. However i dont know where to find my recovery files to copy over to the E: "New Volume" partition. I reset my pc to factory because i assumed there was an error with the install but no.

Failure to apply update due to recovery partition issue?

My suggestion would be to:

1) Disable WinRE

2) Delete partitions 4 and 5.

3) Extend the C drive to utilize the unallocated space (minus 750 MB)

4) Create a Recovery partition in that 750 MB unallocated space.

Step 1:

To disable WinRE, run:

• reagentc /disable
  

Next, check if winre.wim has been moved to the c:\windows\system32\Recovery folder. To do so, run:

• dir c:\windows\system32\Recovery /a
  

Please post the outputs.

 

How To: Create recovery partition.

it worked when i copied all the files of the disk to the recovery partition i created, but i had to use WinPE tab to add the entry.

Type: WIM Image (Ramdisk)
Name: Recovery
Path: Z:\Sources\boot.wim
and hit Add Entry
I tried it in VirtualBox and it worked.
At first, it would add a second "Windows 7" entry to the list, but when the installation is finished, the old one is deleted. (I formatted only C: partition)

 

No Recovery Partition

Hi cereberus, after running the reagentc/info command it says "Windows RE Status: disabled". So then you suggest enabling it. Will enabling it create the recovery partition? Any risk doing this? I thought the recovery partition is useful in cases that the OS is not starting up. UPDATE: Found these steps outlined by JoeR in the forum to create a Bootable USB Recovery Drive in Windows 10
