Windows 10: Resource monitor constantly freezing??

Sometimes my fans start getting really loud when im on edge so i check task manager and resource monitor however resource monitor constantly freezes. If i minimize it, it wont respond and wont come back on the screen and i dont understand why?I ran a scan with MSS and EEK just in case there is anything that might be interfering or interacting with it but nothing comes up so i am confused.I also ran sfc/scannow to check if anything is corrupted but there is nothing.my windows security periodic scanning option also switched off and idk why it can be switched on so there isn't really a problem i

Is Resource Monitor a Trojan Horse?

Resource Monitor has no history of this. From what you described it sounded more like a Norton issue to me. I've had enough experience over ten years daily in forums to know that Norton is always the first suspect when it's mentioned and therefore it was
the first suggestion I made here based on your entire description.

A shotgun approach tries a bunch of things hoping something will work. This is targeted at Norton which is always the prime suspect, and not shotgun at all. If it doesn't help then I'll have other steps but one step does not a shotgun make.

 

2nd and 3rd monitors freezing

I understand how annoying it can be when the monitors freezes at the middle of some work. Thanks for the information provided by you on the post.
To understand the issue better, we need some information.

• Did you observe any changes to the system recently, such as Updates to driver or Windows?
  
• What is the make and model of the PC?
  
• What is the make and model of the all the three monitors?
  
• How the other 2 monitors connected to the PC?
  

However, you can try the steps below and check if it works for you.

Device Drivers settings.

1. Press Windows + X key from the keyboard and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. Expand Display device. Right click on the device listed and select
   Update drivers
   
3. You will receive a prompt
   Search automatically for Updated driver.
   
4. Restart the PC and then check if the Monitor 2 & 3 freezes after sleep.

Windows 10 Resource Monitor Sporadically Freezes PC

Within the last year I noticed that whenever I leave Resource Manager open for more than a few minutes it freezes my computer sporadically. It will stop all PC functionality, mouse cursor included, for a few seconds. Then, it will give me a short period
of access, then stop it again... and so on. The screen remains on, and all tasks (browser windows, movies, games) also intermittently freeze during this period.

The instant I close Resource Monitor this behavior ceases.

Task manager does not elicit the same response (it doesn't elicit any response out of the ordinary). Nor does any other task I regularly endeavor. Only Resource Monitor hates my computer.

I'm running Windows 10, Core I5 4430, 12 gb DDR3, ASRock M8 Mobo (and case). 128 Gb SSD for Windows, 500 Gb HDD, 500 Gb SSD, and an Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb.

As I mentioned, the computer runs perfectly well when Resource Monitor is not open, and runs fine once I manage to terminate it during one of its brief lucid moments.

Any thoughts or experiences on why it does this, or how to stop it?
