Unable to boot Windows from USB NTFS anymore after the latest update 11/2024.

I cannot boot Windows from USB NTFS anymore after the latest update 11/2024. The USB contains a WIN 11 version with software which was running perfectly fine a few days ago when booting was still working. Besides the update, nothing was changed. The USB device is not being recognized if Legacy mode is off. NTFS cannot boot in Legacy mode though. I tried to reverse the update but still, booting was no longer possible as the USB-device is not listed for selection if "Legacy USB support" is disabled. Which changes from the update may cause this issue? What could be the problem and which other ch

  2. Unable to upgrade Windows 11 Home to 11 Pro

Thanks much, Dave, indeed it was a big job.

Clean install of Windows 11 from a bootable USB helped to Activate the Pro.

Just to summarize what was done:

    1. Took backup of the drives and save some on cloud.
    2. Installed the Media creation tool app as you suggested (Download Windows 11)
    3. Connected the USB and ran the application and downloaded the Windows 11.
      1. additional thing which I had to do is to install WLAN driver to the USB in advance, to have the WIFI option available as it was required to connect to a network to download the latest windows features while reinstalling the Windows, and Wi-Fi option was not available.
    4. Turned off the 'Secure boot' from the BIOS menu.
    5. Changed the 'Boot Order' in the BIOS menu to first use the USB Boot.
    6. Saved and Exit, which triggered Restart and Windows installation.
    7. During the network connecting stage to install the latest updates and features - 'Let's Connect you to a network', I opened the CMD (Shift + F10) and ran than WLAN driver exe to install it and then I was able to connect to my WIFI network.
      1. Optional to this step is to BYPASS the network connection stage by following this - bypass "lets connect you to a network" - Microsoft Community
      2. Then, doing that manually once Windows has been installed.
    8. Once everything is set-up, I followed the suggestion from this again, and it worked - Unable to upgrade Windows 11 Home to 11 Pro - Microsoft Community

Unable to install Windows 11 on dual-boot system with openSUSE Tumbleweed

I'm trying to install Windows 11 alongside my existing openSUSE Tumbleweed installation on a Lenovo laptop. However, I'm encountering issues during the Windows 11 installation process.

When I reach the "Where do you want to install Windows?" step during the Windows 11 installation, I receive an error message stating: "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load driver." After clicking "Load driver," I get another error: "No signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK." followed by "To install the device driver for your drive, insert installation media containing the driver files, and then click OK. Note: the installation media can be a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive."

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Boot from the Windows 11 installation media (Ventoy USB drive).
    2. Follow the prompts until reaching the "Where do you want to install Windows?" step.
    3. The error messages mentioned above appear, preventing me from continuing the installation.
Expected behavior: The Windows 11 installer should recognize my storage devices (SSD and HDD) and allow me to proceed with the installation process on the desired partition or drive.

Actual behavior: The installer fails to detect any available drives or storage devices, and the error messages suggest missing or unsigned storage drivers.

    Environment details:

    • Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed (latest version)
    • Kernel Version: 6.8.4-rc1-1-default
    • Laptop Model: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IHU6
    • BIOS/UEFI Version: H4CN34WW(V2.03)
    Relevant configuration:

    Attempts and research:

    • I have downloaded the latest storage drivers for my Lenovo laptop model from the official Lenovo website.
    • I have added the extracted driver files to the Ventoy USB drive alongside the Windows 11 installation files.
Please let me know if you need any clarification or have additional details to provide. I appreciate any assistance in resolving this issue and successfully installing Windows 11 on my dual-boot system with openSUSE Tumbleweed.

My suggestion is to clean the 1T drive and clone it again. To clean the drive, open a CMD window as administrator and type: diskpart list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the 1T drive number) select disk n (replace n by the 1T drive number obtained with list disk) clean convert GPT Exit
