Windows 10: Camera flickers for resolutions higher than 360p

I have been using the last two years a logitech c720 and then a razer kiyo x. There has been a weird glitching if I put a resolution than 360p or even something the camera won't work at all. I have tried all the general fixed I have found in this community or in the internet. I think that it is somehow related on how the drivers handle low light exposuring and contrast or something like that? Any new troubleshooting around this issue?Thanks in advance.

Webcam grainy & blurry - Resolution reset and fixed to 360p after Windows update

My laptop's webcam has a rated resolution of 720p (1280x720) with 0.9 MP sensor. This was working fine till one of the Windows update arrived that replaced the original drivers with a Microsoft driver (Driver Version: 10.0.19041.1387, Driver Date: 06/21/2006). After this update the camera shows grainy, blurry images and video. The hardware id for the camera is USB\VID_0BDA&PID_57F2. I am not sure which update created the issue.

Following are the actions I did as per suggestions from the Microsoft community already.

1. Went into device manager selected the webcam and issued a driver update request which resulted in the message "The best drivers are already installed"

2. Roll-back driver is currently disabled

3. Uninstalled the camera from device manager and restarted the laptop that reinstalled the camera automatically but did not result in any improvement in the camera quality

4. Raised a request with the laptop manufacturer, Acer, who responded that laptop's integrated camera was shipped with drivers that were part of Windows 10 and there are no separate manufacturer's drivers

5. Did several tests on the webcam to find that the resolution is now fixed at 360p (640x360) and also lost lens focus, resulting in grainy and blurry pictures

Please suggest a solution at the earliest.

 

Camera App Low resolution - Windows 10

To better isolate your concern, we'd like to check the following:

• The results after performing the steps posted on the link that we've shared.
• If you're getting the same resolution when accessing the camera app on the device where the camera is physically connected.

Won't set to a higher resolution

OK, on your new system is the correct Display driver loaded, go to Control Panel - Device Manager and make sure that you are not running the Microsoft Basic Display Driver.

If the correct Display Driver is loaded, right click your Desktop, choose Display Settings and see if your resolution is set to the one marked (recommended)

If your resolution is set to the one marked (recommended), then I have some questions:

• Does your new Computer GPU support higher resolutions
• What size is the monitor you are using
• In the control panel of your GPU can you choose to set a custom resolution
