Tried to fix defaultuser0 ghost user issue but something went wrong

defaultuser0 has always been the default profile to log into whenever I start my pc but it doesn’t appear anywhere once I’ve signed in to my account. I tried a suggestion from a previous post here which directed me to delete the key called S-1-5-21… from registry editor. So I did but it didn’t get rid of defaultuser0, AND THEN all the apps on my side stopped working BUT NOW my account has been completely reset to default settings, so my files have disappeared. Please help, I need my files back

    :)

  2. How to fix defaultuser0 being administrator

    Hi,

Kayece here, An Independent advisor and a user just like you. I will be happy to assist you today.

From what I understand, you can log in on the defaultuser0. Correct me if I am wrong.

*Have you recently performed a clean install of Windows? defaultuser0 account was created during the installation process.

*Have you created a user account? It is automatically deleted once you have created a user account.

*What method or steps have you performed or tried so far?

    Kayece

    Stay Safe!

    Hi,

I realize that it must be difficult for you when things are not working as it should. Sorry to know that you are facing this issue. I will try to help you with this issue.

I suggest you to follow these steps to remove the user account from your computer and check if that helps.

    • Press “Windows key + R” and type “netplwiz” press Enter.

    • Select the user account (defaultuser0), click the remove button.

Follow the on-screen directions to complete the process. Once this is done restart the pc for the changes to take place.

  4. Tried to fix defaultuser0 ghost user issue but something went wrong

    Windows 11 Defaultuser0

After a Windows update the defaultuser0 profile showed up on my laptop. I deleted the user profile from the accounts tab in settings but defaultuser0 still tries to sign on upon restart/reboot and stays on the sign-in screen despite the account being removed from the list of users.
How do I get rid of defaultuser0?
