  1. USB Device has Special Characters in Serial Number

Hello! I have a weird issue, for security reasons we need to retrieve the serial number of a USB device when it's plugged in and put it on an allow list using get-pnpdevice -Class 'USB' foreach-object {$_.InstanceID}. Most USB drives return a 6-10 digit numerical string, that's consistent across all devices. However some devices return an odd string with special characters, and it seems to be randomly generated from the Windows USB driver-pack. An example of output that I see is here USB\VID_058F&PID_1234\5&2C4DCD65&0&9 I only care about the last chunk of this output beg

    :)

  2. Extended ASCII characters from USB-serial interfaced equipment not displaying correctly.

    Hi,

Extended ASCII characters are very useful for typing special symbols or characters. For better assistance, we would like to clarify the following:

    • Have you tried using the extended ASCII characters on an application such as notepad, Word, etc.? If yes, does it work on the said applications?
    • Are there any error messages displayed when using the extended ASCII characters on your external serial device?

We're looking forward to your reply.

  3. Special Characters in phone numbers - 6085

I have looked through the entire User's Guide for my 6085 and cannot find how to store special characters, such as pause, in the telephone number. Lots of info about special characters for texting but not phone number. Is this feature not available?

  4. USB Device has Special Characters in Serial Number

Windows 7 define wrong serial number for USB device

I've plugged in the USB device (usb-ethernet adaptor TP Link UE300) and try to find out its serial number in device manager.

In device manager I've found according device, opened its properties, tab 'Details', there I found the 'Device Instance Path' property (as I know it keeps serial number). The value for the serial number is '000001000000' - it has nothing common with real
device serial number which is written on its body.

Could you, please, give me a hint, why the serial number detects incorrectly?
