  1. Switch speaker depending on what monitor is the program that is playing audio

I have a laptop and a monitor, both of which have built-in speakers. I want to set it up so that when I play a video on my monitor like on YouTube, the sound comes from the monitor's speakers. Conversely, when I play a video on my laptop, I want the audio to come from the laptop's speakers. Is there a program or a method to achieve this in Windows 11? If so, I’d appreciate any detailed guidance or tips!

    :)

  2. Failure in switching audio from laptop to second monitor

    Hello, CluelessCL

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Thank you for describing the issue you're facing with switching audio output from your laptop to the second monitor via HDMI. It's essential to have a seamless experience when using external monitors. To assist you further, I'd like to gather some more specific details:

1-Can you confirm if the issue is specific to the second monitor's speakers, or does it also occur when using other audio devices, such as external speakers or headphones?

2-Have you tried different HDMI cables or tested the monitor's audio output with another device to ensure it's functioning as expected?

3-Are you using any third-party audio management software or apps that might be affecting the audio output switching behavior?

4-Have you recently made any changes to your laptop's audio settings or installed any updates that might have coincided with the time when this issue started?

Additionally, please provide the following details:

    • The make and model of your laptop.
    • The make and model of the second monitor you're using.
If possible, try the following steps and let me know the results:

    1. Restart your laptop while keeping the HDMI connection to the second monitor intact and then check if you can switch audio output.
    2. Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable while audio is playing on your laptop to see if this triggers the audio to switch to the monitor's speakers.
Once I have this information, I'll be able to provide you with more targeted troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue with audio output switching between your laptop and the second monitor.

Looking forward to your response so that I can assist you further.

    Best regards,

  3. Use different speaker depending on which monitor is displaying program

    Hello,

I have a secondary monitor with built-in speakers and find it odd how sound comes from one place and video from another. I want programs to automatically switch to use the monitor's speakers when dragged over to it.
I do not want to set up different sound devices for different apps
as I'd have to change that every time I moved a browser tab with audio. I have tested the monitor's speakers and they work and sound fine, but I'm not an audiophile so your mileage may vary.

Switch speaker depending on what monitor is the program that is playing audio

How to play audio/music through speakers AND bluetooth speakers

I have a pair of Creative T40 speakers plugged into the 3.5mm jack on my laptop. I got hold of a bluetooth speaker and that was recognised straight-away.

I have installed a large monitor (32inch) to the laptop on which I work as well as watch movies and play games. I was wondering if I could setup that audio, be it music, gaming audio or movie audio could be played through BOTH sets of speakers.

The main T40's are on either side of the monitor and I have the bluetooth speaker behind me on a shelf. That would, kind-of, give me surround sound. Or when I have people over I could get better sound if I could just move the bluetooth speaker to a different part of the room.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thank you.
