  1. Why windows 11 installation report wrong storage space and type of formatting not allowing...

Hi,ASU’s laptop. Ux325 series. My laptop has a 512 m2ssd, in a GPT format. Windows installation seeing a 2tb in a mbr format. Not allowing me to reinstall a fresh copy of w11.I can reset it. But I’m dealing with a hardware issue related with the camera module and I want a clean install from usb. And why may be the case of camera not working suddenly, and there is no way to make it work. Has vanished. I’m guessing a hardware failure. Microphones still work. Camera and mike are attached to the same pcb and same wire loom. Many thanks.

    :)

Conflicting information on my Storage Space...

From disk management, it does report the same storage and used space as from explorer.
May I ask did you try to create a storage pool or something ? if so, you should not mess with this.

Is this disk an external disk connected via USB ? WD or Seagate branch ?

I have the feeling that this disk is formatted with GPT type using 512K emulation so Windows get confused. To verify:

    1. Right click on Disk 6 ->Properties->Volumes. What does it show on partition styles ? GPT ?
    2. Download Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Free, install then run. What does it show on disk 7 ? MBR ?

If step 1 shows GPT and step 2 shows MBR then definitely the disk was formatted using 512K emulation. The reason they did this so that it would be recognized by WinXP or if you connect it to a TV.

Windows Updates failed is another problem you have. First, it tried to updates from 1703 -> 1709 and failed so any subsequent updates to 1803 also failed.

Formatted Disk getting UN-formatted by Storage Spaces

Windows 10 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3448) I had an issue with getting a disk to be recognized by the OS (on Windows 10) which was resolved by using a different PC (that happened to be Windows 11) to format the disk. I then intended to add the disk to a Storage Spaces Drive Pool on the Win10 machine that didn't initially recognize the disk. That machine now recognizes the disk, sees that it is formatted...and when I open Storage Spaces and choose Add Disk from the Pool menu, Storage Spaces shows the drive as unformatted. Go into Disk Management, and sure enough, the drive is no longer formatted. Tell Disk Management to format the drive, open Storage Spaces....same thing happens: go to add the drive and Storage Spaces says it is unformatted. "But who cares?" you might be thinking. "Just let Storage Spaces add it to the pool!" Well, there's this one little hitch: the Storage Space in question is huge. If I do not format the drive with a 4K Cluster size, a limitation of NTFS will cause the Storage Space to be unable to grow any larger than 16TB (with Storage Spaces overhead this drops to 14.6TB). I have learned that Storage Spaces will use the Windows 10 default cluster size. So I have to be able to add this 10TB drive to Storage Spaces, preformatted to a 4K Cluster size. Otherwise Storage Spaces will drop the total size of the space to 16TB (14.6TB) and possibly also start throwing errors about resiliency--a lesson I had to learn the hard way. Unless this is a known bug with a workaround that I just haven't been able to find, I suspect this solution may require me having to have some sort of Powershell magic - maybe you can add a drive to a Storage Space by name and specify the cluster size using a command and some switches? Any suggestions are welcome. Right now I'm trying: a) do a Full Format of the drive instead of a Quick Format b) making sure Add Drive UN-checks the checkbox to automatically optimize the drives - I can always do that later if that's what's freaking Storage Spaces out.

    Reported storage wrong

My Windows 10 storage is in several ways inaccurate.

When I go to my settings and look at my storage, it lists apps that are no longer installed (and which even say they aren't installed when I click on them through this route), but they are still being counted as taking storage space.

This is hindering my ability to perform updates as windows seems to think I don't have enough space, but when I actually calculate what is installed I have more than 40GB free.

I have cleared my cache, scanned for viruses, and restarted my computer many many times.
