Windows 10: PC "Froze" and asked me to call Microsoft Support to remove a virus

Elderly relative fell for this. They installed quick assist and connected.Some time later I found out and aske them to hang up and switch off computer.What safety measures should now be taken, and where did the popup originate?@rob_kochRegarding your response below, I was thinking the same things:recent apps, reinstall windows, reset passwords, etc.. however given they had at least 20 minutes on there with full access, and got him to reboot during the call, I don't know what was done.Could be they installed back door programs, keyloggers, or things that don't show up in list of apps and don't

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's not a software related issue which is why I was suggesting that you remove the video card to start with since it's such an easy process of elimination step.

I'm not familiar with AMD CPUs, I did see that you had listed in your system specs but I had no idea whether or not it has an iGPU

Is there any possibility of you being able to get your hands on any compatible video card at all?it would be the easiest step to try to troubleshoot or at least one of the easier ones. You should be able to get into the bios without anything but A display cable hooked up to the motherboard
