Windows 10: i have scanned laptop 3 times and it says I have over 51 infected files but the program...

i have done 3 scans and the program takes over 2 hours to complete the scan. It tells me there are over 51 infected files but it does not delete them. How can I delete them if the program does not do it? Is there something i am missing? I used "microsoft safety scan".

There's a bit of a UX problem with the scanner. As it is running it may encounter files that are suspected of being infected but indicate a count as: "Files Infected: XX"

This suggests the files are infected and apparently no list of these potentially infected files are provided.

1. Change the label to "Possible Infected Files"
   
2. Write to the msert log the list of possibly infected files for further review/action.
   

I say this as I let the tool run for over 3 hours, racking up over 20 "Files Infected". My computer was disconnected from the Internet during the scan. So I was surprised that the files in question were somehow "cleared" despite a lack of Internet connection.

If the suspected files couldn't be submitted, then how were they cleared? Which files were suspected?

I appreciate the tool just cannot trust the results.

 

When running the malicious software removal tool, it says that I have 2 infected files whilst scanning, but then at the end it says that there were no infected files.

responses where people have said that the tool has deleted these two files, but it always says that there are two files.

 

Microsoft Safety Scanner problem: In the 4th, 5th, 6th scans it finds 3 infected files. and so on...

I have full-scanned my computer by using Microsoft Safety Scanner. In the first scan. It has found 9 infected files. In the immediate second scan it found 9 infected files again. In the third one it found 7 files. In the 4th, 5th, 6th scans it found 3 infected files. In the present scan it seems that it finds 3 files again. I am doing all scans successively without breaks. Why is the scanner not removing these 3 infected files? Please help
