Windows 10: System freezes randomly and has to be shut down to turn it back on but runs fine in safe mode

Hello i am reaching out for support because i have tried a lot of things for my system but the issue persists. I recently upgraded my system before this no issue like this occurred but i will label my specs. cpu: 12th Gen IntelR CoreTM i9-12900K 3.19 GHzgpu: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 motherboard: MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4ram: Corsair VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 64GBpsu: evga 1000w gqAs for the upgrade i changed the case to a fractal torrent added a 4tb ssd and changed cpu coolers to Noctua NH-D15. PC freeze within 30sec of boot, works fine in safe mode

Hi there,

Having an issue with my Laptop, running win 10 pro.

Freezing in less than 30 secs of boot normal boot.Safe mode works fine where I have tried to run sfc now issue found.

So here is a quick list of what I have so far tried

• Boot to safe mode sfc /scannow no issue found
• Tried a clean boot(disable all no MS services) and reboot
• Sign in under a new user account
• Read logs but nothing seen freezing seem to not write any logs.
• Memory test passed
• chkdsk passed
• run windows repair off disk
• Sure there is more than I can not think of at the moment as my brain is ready to sleep
• System Restore
• Startup Repair

I am thinking it might be a driver based issue due to working fine when in safe mode but haven't updated any drivers.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Windows 10 freezes randomly

I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin

I had tried that as well... no result.

 

Safe mode problem

Hi,

To get better clarity on the issue, kindly answer the questions below:

• By saying that you have a "Safe mode problem," did you mean to say that your computer is stuck in Safe mode or are you unable to boot it to Safe mode?
• What troubleshooting steps have you attempted to resolve your concern?

If this is caused by recent programs installed on your computer, then we suggest you to run
System Restore to revert your system files to an earlier date. To run System Restore, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R on your keyboard.
• On the run command box, type "RSTRUI.EXE" and hit enter.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

Make sure that you choose the restore point date when your computer was working fine. Please be advised that programs and applications installed on your computer after the restore point will be removed.
