Windows 10: I can't find the command to format a CD/DVD

I have Windows 11. I recently installed a new, external LG brand CD/DVD drive. I can burn files to the drive, but I cannot format a CD so that Windows recognizes it. I have done the following:Opened File Explorer from the Start menuSelected "This PC"Right clicked on the CD driveHowever, there is no "Format Drive" option on the menu.Is there another way to format the drive?

In windows 10? But went to Device Manager Steps 2 and 3. Right Click, no windows update shows up. Any freeware you suggest?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to update the DVD\CD rom drive and than try to format.

Follow the below steps and check.

Step 1. Press Windows and X keys together.

Step 2. Click on Device Manager.

Step 3. Click on DVD\CD rom drives

Step 4. Right click on the CD rom driver and tap on update driver through
windows update and than try formatting the disc.

Open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges. 2. Type the following command and hit Enter key: reg.exe add “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0” /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001 3. Exit the Command Prompt and reboot. Insert a disk to test and the optical or DVD drive should be visible now.
